Texans United for Freedom hosts the second-largest sanctioned BBQ cookoff in Montgomery County, doubling as a fundraiser and celebration for veterans, active military and first responders. The two-day event includes live music from Cody Canada and the Departed, carnival games and a midway area, a kids zone, vendors, fireworks, and live and silent auctions. All proceeds go to the Lone Survivor Foundation and TUFF Foundation. 5 p.m. (Fri.), 10 a.m. (Sat.). $5 (entry), $20 (per cookoff entry), $25 (kids cookoff entry), $250 (cooking space fee).
